For customers, a website is an ‘always open’ workplace for your business.

Website Design & Development

A website plays a crucial role in establishing your online presence. It’s always open, 24/7, for visitors and potential clients to learn about your products and services, what makes you better than your competitors, and why they can trust you.

Why I use WordPress for your website:

  • WordPress is built with the end-user in mind. Even if you’re not tech-savvy, you’ll find the interface intuitive. From updating content to adding blog posts or images, WordPress makes website management simple without needing a developer every time.
  • With thousands of themes and plugins available, WordPress offers unmatched flexibility. Whether you want a sleek business site, an online store, or a blog, I can tailor the design and features to meet your exact needs.
  • WordPress is structured to be search engine-friendly, with clean code and robust SEO tools to help you optimize your content. This gives your site a better chance to rank higher on Google and attract more visitors organically.
  • WordPress can grow with your business. You can start with a simple site and expand it over time—adding features like online booking, eCommerce, membership areas, without rebuilding from scratch. Other platforms may require upgrading to expensive plans or have limitations on growth and integrations.
  • As the most widely used website platform in the world, WordPress has a massive support community. That means plenty of tutorials, developers, and troubleshooting resources are available to help if you need assistance or want to expand functionality later.
  • Unlike website builders that lock you into their ecosystem, you own your site, content, and data, and you’re free to host it anywhere. This gives you full control over your digital presence.
Web Design & Development

The Process

1

In the first phase of the project, we dig into the heart of your needs, vision and objectives, define your target audience, analyze your competitors, gather together the assets and content you have for content mapping, and build wireframes, to plan a website that is beautiful, functional, and attracts your target market.

2

The next phase is setting up the WordPress development environment, structuring the website content and creating a user-friendly navigation system. Then I focus on the visual style, including page layouts, color palette, typography and button styles, imagery, graphics, and designing the site for various screen sizes. Although you are providing the website copy, I’m very skilled at organizing content in such a way that it is meaningful, engaging and relevant to the target audience. I can also help with copy editing and proofreading.

3

The last phase involves the configuring of plugins for security, performance and functionality, basic search engine optimization, working with you to set up forms, payment gateways, email marketing, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and testing. Websites are developed behind a “Coming Soon” page, so clients can view the site as it will be seen live, and offer feedback and request changes. Design Approval Forms are signed throughout the project. The complexity of the website may influence the number of changes. The planning phase of the project is designed to help minimize revisions later on in the project.

Website Package

While the full development of a website can take anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks, the sooner information and feedback are received, the sooner the site can go live. My aim is to always get you online as soon as possible.

To start with, websites cost differently depending on size and functionality required.

Web design and development may include the following work:

  • Research, content and design strategy
  • Creating typography and color styling
  • Searching for and editing suitable stock photos that may be needed
  • Possible custom graphics or basic video editing
  • Custom styling of the site so the website looks good on all devices (responsive design)
  • Adding and configuring third-party plugins for a range of features and functionality
  • Basic search engine optimization
  • Setting up online forms and testing them
  • Communication and administrative tasks
  • Troubleshooting
  • Making revisions

Licensing of any third-party plugins that are unique to your site are incorporated into pricing as well.

I totally get wanting to move quickly! Even a one-pager still needs structure and strategy to make sure it’s clear, functional, and aligned with your goals. I’ll walk you through the process so we can create something intentional – not rushed.

The complexity of the project has a lot to do with the amount of work involved. This could be anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks or more.

The pace of the project depends a lot on how quickly you’re able to complete the initial pre-work, and respond to feedback along the way. With smooth communication, most projects are wrapped up ahead of schedule.

Before I can get started, I require you to complete an in-depth Discovery Questionnaire to ensure I get an accurate understanding of you, your business, products and/or services, target market, goals, vision, style, and the scope of work involved. This pre-work is an integral part of the process.

Once that is completed and sent to me, I will be able to determine whether to proceed with the project or not. Regardless, you will be able to save a copy of your answers. I will then send you my proposal and set up a free 15 min consultation for you to ask any questions regarding the project, proposal and pricing.

Once you’ve accepted my contract and made the initial payment, I can get started with the research and planning phase of the project. I will also ask for things such as login credentials, your logo files in original ai or eps format, copy/text, and any graphics and photos you want displayed on the site. Providing this content early in the process contributes to a more efficient, timely and successful website development project.

For website packages, payments are collected in several installments – percentages of the total amount. 30% deposit is collected at the beginning of the project. The final payment is made prior to website migration and launch.

A website is never really complete. I make changes to mine all the time. Over time, paying someone else to regularly update your content can cost you thousands of dollars!

Upon handover, I provide my clients with a document which will provide links and easy-to-follow instructions so that you make your own changes or additions to the website content.

The plugins on the site will also need to be periodically updated, but this needs to be done the right way or your site may break. I will include instructions for this too. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, there are online maintenance services for WordPress websites to ensure it stays secure, updated and optimized.

  • Hosting costs are paid by you. They depend on the hosting plan you choose. Some hosts include SSL certificates, daily scheduled backups, or you might opt for your website to be hosted on a private server, which is beneficial for speed, security, and search engine optimization. I only develop websites on specific hosting platforms, that I know have excellent and free customer support, include backups, and are reliable and secure.
  • You’ll need to register and purchase a domain name, which is generally about $45/year with privacy protection.
  • If you need to process payments through your website, there will be fees depending on the gateway used, transaction volume, types of cards accepted, and the nature of the business.
  • Annual license renewal for any plugin you may need, which is unique to your site’s functionality. In this case, we would obtain the single license for the plugin in the client’s name, and the client would be responsible for renewing it in the future. The cost for the initial cost of the license is calculated into the overall cost of the website package.

Absolutely. This would just be considered a new project.

We can certainly discuss what other design services you would like to have done, which are not included in the Website package.

There are some things that are not my specialty, such as Google Ads, email direct marketing, illustration, developing custom plugins, in-depth SEO work.

At the start of the project, I’ll provide a clear overview of the process, including key milestones and a detailed estimated timeline so you’ll always know what to expect.

I prioritize open communication, collaboration, and timely responses, to keep things running smoothly. If anything on my end ever causes a delay, you’ll be the first to know. Transparency is part of how I work.
