Prototyping & High-Fidelity Mockups

High-fidelity mockups are polished static designs that closely resemble the final website or app, complete with colors, typography, images and icons. Prototyping takes that a step further by creating an interactive version of the design that can be tested, refined, and improved through an iterative process before a single line of code is written.

My prototyping and mockup services give clients a realistic preview of their final product, a chance to test navigation and user experience early, and the confidence that comes from resolving issues before development begins – saving time, reducing costs, and resulting in a higher quality end product.

The Process

1

The process begins with defining user needs and objectives, followed by research and strategy. From there, I create digitally drawn black-and-white wireframes to map out primary user journeys — designing the navigation, basic page layouts, and essential content structure — before any visual design decisions are made.

2

Using the approved wireframes as a blueprint, I build an interactive, clickable prototype that brings the user experience to life. This allows for usability testing to observe how users move through the product, identify potential issues early, and make changes. Feedback and comments can be added directly within the prototype, keeping communication clear.

3

With the prototype approved, the design moves into full detail – polished, pixel-perfect mockups that closely resemble the final product, complete with color, styled typography, buttons, icons, and imagery. Both desktop and mobile layouts are designed for each main screen. Once complete, the prototype is developer-ready, providing a precise visual reference for implementation.

Prototype or High-Fidelity Mockups

While the development of a prototype can take anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks, depending on the complexity and level of detail required, my aim is to get feedback early and often, to speed up the design process.

What You Get

  • A shareable link to the prototype or high-fidelity mockup for easy reviewing and collaboration.
  • A developer-ready design with everything needed for a smooth, accurate handoff and implementation.
  • Documentation covering user flows and functionality details to guide developers through the build.
  • Full design specs, graphics and copy that developers can inspect, access, and export directly from the prototype.
  • A style guide covering color palette, typography, button and icon styles, and annotations for any interactive elements and animations.

FAQs

We are a good fit if you:

  • Can complete and return the Discovery Questionnaire within 3 days of receiving it. This tells me a lot about how ready you are to move forward.
  • Appreciate that great design takes time – including thoughtful research, creative exploration, and pixel-perfect implementation.
  • Are committed to keeping the project on track by honoring the original plan and timelines we’ve agreed on together.
  • Trust the process – I’ll be guiding every step with experience and design expertise, always aligned with your goals.
  • Welcome collaboration and are ready to actively participate in bringing the concept to life.

Timelines vary depending on the complexity and scope of the project — a focused prototype or mockup might wrap up in a few weeks, while a more involved project with multiple user flows and screens can take longer.

As with any design project, the pace is shaped by both sides — the depth of work required at each phase, and how quickly feedback comes through on your end. When both are flowing smoothly, projects often finish ahead of schedule.

To kick things off, I’ll send you an in-depth Discovery Questionnaire to help me get a thorough understanding of you, your business, products and/or services, target market, goals, vision, style, and the scope of your project. This pre-work is an integral part of the process, and you’ll be able to save a copy of your answers for your own records.

From there, I’ll review your responses and put together a tailored proposal, along with a free 15-minute consultation so you can ask any questions about the project, timeline, and pricing.

Once you’ve signed the contract and made the initial payment, we’ll dive into the research and planning phase. At that point, I’ll also reach out for any existing assets that may be relevant – such as your logo, brand guidelines, copy, or graphics – so we have everything needed to move forward efficiently.

Yes, though it’s worth knowing that Figma has a learning curve, and unintentional edits can affect design consistency and cause confusion for your development team. For that reason, I recommend keeping the file in view-only mode to protect the integrity of the design. That said, if changes are needed down the road, I’m happy to help — just reach out and we can discuss next steps.

Absolutely. Prototypes can always be expanded as your project evolves. Just reach out with your requirements and I’ll put together a revised quote for the additional work.

At the start of the project, I’ll provide a clear overview of the process, including key milestones.

I prioritize open communication, collaboration, and timely responses, to keep things running smoothly. If anything on my end ever causes a delay, you’ll be the first to know. Transparency is part of how I work.
