UI/UX Design + Web Design & Development + Branding + Content Strategy + Image Editing
Goals
Michael Butler has been traveling the world since 2016. He already had an established Instagram page with photos and videos from all over the world, but wanted a website to showcase his beautiful photos and videos grouped by both Destination and Extreme Pursuits. He also wanted to share a little about himself and how he got started traveling the world. The goal of his website is to inspire others to explore, dream, discover.

Branding
Michael expressed that he wanted the logo and style of the website to be contemporary, sophisticated, but with an earthy feel. He didn’t want the logo to be “cartoonish”, but more classic, and something that represented “traveling all over the world”. The logo text really needed to stand out against the background images and videos at the top of the page too. So I kept all of this in mind when designing the logo, and deciding on the color palette and font choices.

Challenges & Solutions
From the start, Michael and I realized that we needed to have a more efficient way to share and organize his media, especially with him frequently on the go. We set up a shared folder on the platform of his choice, where he uploaded labeled photos and videos, making it easy for me to organize, edit, and optimize them using Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Rush.
His stunning drone footage became the focal point of the homepage. I created a custom video compilation using Rush to highlight his best shots.
To enhance the user experience, I designed a beautiful dropdown Destinations megamenu and built interactive clickable maps inviting visitors to explore the world’s nine regions.
To highlight his “Extreme Pursuits” around the world, I designed and implemented another megamenu which organized his adventures into five distinct categories, with the list of pursuits immediately visible under each, making it easier for visitors to navigate and explore content at a glance.
With so many travel blogs out there, we focused on making this site uniquely Michael’s, centered on inspiring visuals, minimal text, and a personal tone. He wrote just enough to add meaning, without overshadowing the imagery, creating a clean and engaging experience true to his vision.

The final result
After several months of working on detailed photo and video editing and management, much collaboration, iterations, pixel-perfect design customization from mobile to desktop, configuring maps, implementing SEO best practices, editing copy for pages and posts, researching and writing policies, troubleshooting, testing, and more, thebutlertravels.com was launched. It turned out to exceed what Michael hoped for, and more.
The website is visually stunning, easy to navigate, clean (non-cluttered), with a cohesive and consistent design throughout. It offers a seamless experience across all devices, which is ideal for visitors on the go.
“Working with Alexandra to create my travel photography blog has been an amazing experience! The design is sleek, visually stunning, and perfectly reflects my style. The layout is intuitive, making it easy for visitors to explore my website to view my photos and videos, and read about my travel adventures. The attention to detail in every aspect of the site has blown me away. Alexandra even went the extra mile to resize, enhance, optimize and organize all of my photos, and select the best ones for each page! It’s not just a blog; it’s an immersive journey that showcases my work in the best light possible. It was a monumental project, and I couldn’t be happier with the final result. I’ve already received countless compliments from friends, family, and fellow travelers!”
