UI/UX Design + Web Design & Development + Branding + Content Strategy + Image Editing

Goals

For this fictional Caribbean resort, I set out to create a functional hotel booking website built on WordPress and WooCommerce. My focus was on blending strong visual design with intuitive UI/UX to deliver a user-friendly experience that reflects a cohesive brand identity. This project allows me to highlight my skills in brand design, responsive design, and WordPress with WooCommerce web development. Careful attention was given to selecting high-quality, complementary imagery that reflects the resort’s tropical, luxurious atmosphere.

Branding

I wanted the branding for Hotel Anisette to evoke a sense of seaside luxury, island hospitality and relaxation. I created a custom logo that features illustrated chalet-style roofs with palm trees. For the logo typography, I selected a sophisticated serif font. The color palette is centered around calming shades of blue, inspired by the Caribbean Sea, to instantly communicate tranquility and a coastal atmosphere. Supporting typefaces were chosen for their elegance and readability, reinforcing the resort’s upscale yet approachable identity.

Challenges & Solutions

One of the biggest challenges in designing and developing the Hotel Anisette website was curating the right stock photography. It was incredibly time-consuming to find high-quality images that looked cohesive—as if they were taken at the same location—while also aligning with the hotel’s brand identity and color palette.

The solution came through persistence and refinement: selecting only the most beautiful and consistent images to build a unified visual story that gives the impression of one authentic place.

Another challenge came from working with a WordPress theme that had a completely different style and branding than what Hotel Anisette required. This meant customizing everything—colors, typography, buttons, and even the entire booking process—to align with the hotel’s brand identity.

Since I’m highly experienced in CSS, my solution was to use a plugin called WPCode to implement custom CSS and media queries, tailoring the styling for every detail from mobile through desktop. This approach allowed me to transform the theme into a fully branded, responsive design that feels like a seamless extension of Hotel Anisette’s luxury experience.

The final result

The website was completed over the course of three months, allowing time for thoughtful design, customization and refinement. The final result is a visually unified design that blends elegant photography with custom-styled branding, delivering a luxury look and feel while remaining highly functional. Guests can now enjoy a seamless booking experience across desktop and mobile, while the site itself reflects the sophistication, warmth, and charm of Hotel Anisette.
